Western Air Flight Academy is approved by the Colorado state approving agency to offer veteran benefits through the Montgomery GI Bill.

Welcome to Western Air Flight Academy, the premier flight-training center in Colorado. Conveniently located at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan (Metro) Airport in Broomfield.  We offer a top quality training experience in a safe and welcoming environment. What makes us so special?

First, we are one of the few area training centers to qualify as a 14 CFR part 141 flight school. We have three part 141 approved courses: private pilot airplane, commercial pilot airplane and instrument rating airplane. This FAA certified program clearly outlines the scope and sequence of your flight training. Due to the more structured curriculums, you can move more quickly through all of your ratings and become a career pilot, if that is your goal. Cirrus aircraft, both the SR 20 and SR 22, are included in our part 141 curriculums. Ask about our second to none mountain flight training course.

Second, we are the only metro airport flight school with a part 135 on demand charter certificate featuring the 180 Kt CIRRUS (single engine IFR certified) SR-22 aircraft.

howard.png Jackie Burant is our Chief Pilot for Western Air. Jackie has over 2500 hours of flying experience. She graduated from Embry-Riddle University and taught for over three years in Florida before joining Western Air last year. We are very excited to have Jackie as part of our team.

Howard McClure, our President, actively participates in Civil Air Patrol as a flight instructor and is a check airman as well. Howard is Cessna factory Garmin G1000 qualified.

The Western Air staff represents just over 157 years and nearly 75,000 hours of flight experience. Drawing from our seasoned pool of experience helps you to shorten the average time it takes to get your pilot's license.
