Joe Gilmore – Flight Instructor

Certificates: Commercial Pilot, Airplane Single- & Multi-engine Land; Mechanic, Airframe & Powerplant
Education: Colorado School of Mines, B.S. Mining Engineering; University of Denver Sturm College of Law, J.D.
Flight Instructor: CFI, Airplane Single Engine Land

Joe’s first exposure to general aviation was as a skydiver, making over 200 jumps out of various single-engine Cessna aircraft before beginning his flight training.  After Joe became a CFI, a friend taught him the basics of tailwheel flying in a Piper J-3 Cub, and he was hooked.  He quickly acquired a 1946 Aeronca 7AC of his own to indulge his love for tailwheel flying, which he now shares with others at Western Air Flight Academy, and also at our Aspen Flying Club location in Englewood.  When not flying, Joe practices natural resource law in downtown Denver to pay the bills, and still makes an occasional skydive now and then.
